Jadyn lets out a short laugh as he closed the door behind Amy, pulling out a swivel chair for her to take a seat. He took one last hit of his joint before he stubbed it out and rested it in the ashtray. “See, this is why you’re the easiest damn person to work with in this building.” he says in reference to Amy stating that she’s down to sing whatever they write for her.

Kara straightens herself up in her chair, grabbing her notebook and pen. “Damn. If I’d have known that I would have written the sexiest most graphic shit ever!” she says jokingly with a soft laugh, “Queen, I got you.” she says with a sincere smile as she scribbled a couple of things down before explaining her thought process. “Alright, real talk. The chorus is good, but it’s hitting too soon. There’s no build.” she says as she continues scribbling, “I’m thinking we keep the current chorus but come in softer with a hook rather than straight in from the verse. Something like…” she writes down a quick first draft of a pre-chorus that they’ll work on and refine later. Handing the notebook to Amy for her to read it. “What do you think?”

Kara nodded in agreement as Amy talked about the benefits of working into the chorus with a hook, "Exactly, we've already got a really strong fuckin' chorus right now." she says enthusiastically, "Build to that shit instead of jumping right into it and it's probably one of the catchiest hooks of the year". She happily hands her notebook and pen to Amy as Amy decides to throw in her own ideas, "I got you, girlie!" she says with a giggle and a nod of her head in approval.

Jadyn leans back in his chair, happy to hear Amy wanting to take ownership of the words. "Own that shit. Take it where you want it to go." he says as he glances over as Amy scribbles her ideas down alongside Kara's. He appreciated the fact that Amy clearly didn't want to just have the words provided for her and just lay down her vocal and was actually working with Kara on the creative process for her parts.

Jadyn stood to his feet as Amy finished amending some of the words to fit her own vision, he re-lit his joint and checked out the work, looking over Kara's shoulder at the notebook, "You really enjoy the writing, huh?" he asks, as he reads Amy's offering, "It drives me crazy. The rewrites and refining, fuck no! That shit is painful. That's when I really get on that manic shit."

Kara nods and smiles as she reads Amy's edits, "Fuck, this is fire." she re-reads it again and hands the notebook back to Amy, "You're right in the pocket with it. Balances perfectly with the tone of the opening, gives a little hint of danger but not too much." she says as she relaxes back into her chair, "We should get your vocals laid down tonight and call it. Start with a clear head on your lead verse tomorrow?" she says as a suggestion, looking to Jadyn for guidance since it was his session.

Jadyn nodded, "Let's lock it in." he says as he queues up the track on the mixing board, "We can finish up here and head out for some food and drinks". he says as he works on adjusting the sound levels from the mixing booth.

Jadyn shakes his head, taking a hit of his joint as the sound of the instrumental can be heard through the speakers into the mixing booth. "Nah, I like this part of it." he gestures to the mixing booth and the production room as a whole, "Building shit, brick by brick. And I like laying down those first takes. But I don't like listening to my playback and making rewrites, sometimes the best lyrics are the ones you fire out without thinking." he says with a shrug of his shoulders, "A fuck load of songs get ruined by overthinking." he says with a chuckle.

Kara immediately stands to her feet, "Shiiiit ... girly's going in the booth with attitude." she says enthusiastically, reaching to the mixing board and setting everything up to record the vocal take. "Now you know we're gonna end the session in style." she says, waiting for Amy to make her way into the large recording room below them. Once she's ready, Kara gets a thumbs up to begin recording the take.
As Kara and Jadyn watch from the production room and monitor things, Kara nods confidently, "Fuck she's good." she says with a smirk, receiving the joint from Jadyn, she takes a hit before handing it back, "And when that confident attitude comes out, holy shit. I can see why you're so drawn to her."

Kara hugs Amy as she returns to the production booth, “Fuck, you serious?” she says, “There was no rust. That shit was caramel smooth.” She says as she locks in the vocal take on the laptop, allowing Amy to have a listen back to it. “I don’t think there’s any need for a second shot at it.” she says, looking at Jadyn for guidance on how they should proceed.

Jadyn nods as the song plays back, placing a hand on Amy’s lower back as they listen back to the take, “Ain’t no flaws on that take. But it’s your name on this too, you can take as many shots at it as you want. But I know you’ll go ten for ten on it”. he says, confident that they already have a perfect note for note recording. “We’re gonna be back here again tomorrow to write and record your lead verse so we can re-record anything if you want another shot at it.” he says, offering her the chance to make the decision herself, “But I say we call it now and step back in tomorrow.”
