Interview with Bavo Maximus, drummer with Toute Rancune
'I think we've finally become a full band now.'

Toute Rancune have never been a band with a stable lineup, but the last report we've had on the band was quite drastic, even for them. It only took them 6 shows for guitarist Kurt Specht and keyboardist Martin Duplantier to leave and reduce the quintet down to a trio
Today, the band is starting the second leg of its your in Portugal, where we meet Bavo Maximus, drummer and only remaining new member of TR
.

Mister Maximus, thank you for meeting with us.
No, thank you. I apologise in advance. This is my first interview and I'm actually quite nervous.

I'm sure you'll be fine. So, how's the tour going so far?
For me personally, it's quite the adventure. Appart from a couple of gigs in The Netherlands, I've never really played abroad before. So, to now find myself here in Porto today, playing Spain tomorrow and then back of to Lisbon, it's wild. I wouldn't know how else to describe it.

So, what happened?
What happened to what?

I'm asking about the departure of Kurt Specht and Martin Duplantier last week. What happened there?
I'm not sure if I'm the one to talk about this. Just in short, Kurt and Martin weren't content with being in the band. I don't know the full details, but I think it's for the best.
I knew Kurt was frustrated with the creative process behind (new album) Dew, since that album was already fully written before any of us were recruited. Maybe he got ticked of with Chris and Mario putting out the Eyes Open Wide-EP, which are outtakes from Dew.
It's there loss really. We've just had a week off at home and the entire process of writing the next album is entirely different now. I think we've finally become a full band now.

Hold on, did you just say that there'll be a next album?
Ehm, I guess I did. Thank you for your time.

Erich: I think I was in toute rancune for a brief stint. They're like e UK subs, everyone's been a member at least once. Hell, you may already be a member and not know it.

Erica: ha! member.
