Title: Just Keeps Getting Harder
Length: 3:45
Genre(s): Indie-Pop, Indie-Rock, Funk, Funk-Rock
Label: Independent/Self-Released
Written By: Cem Bünyamin
Produced By: Hugo White, Charles MacDonald
Taken From The Album: The Diary Of Boyhood Dreams

“Just Keeps Getting Harder” is the second single by British-Turkish singer-songwriter Cem Bünyamin, its serves as the follow up to his debut single “Sweet Seventeen”. Which was released in October 2025 to mark his 18th birthday and charted a #7 on the charts without any label backing after the young star made a name for himself on the social media platform TikTok. “Just Keeps Getting Better” is an indie-pop, indie-rock and funk fused track and was written by the 18 year-old and lyrically talks an extremely related topic about that awkward moment when you get an erection during a class at school or college. Production for the track was once again handled by Hugo White and Charles MacDonald who also produced “Sweet Seventeen”. The track also serves as the second single to be lifted from Cem’s upcoming debut studio album which was originally rumoured to be called “Boyhood Dreams” however the title of his debut album has now been revealed to be called “The Diary Of Boyhood Dreams”. The track has a runtime of three minutes and forty-five seconds.

Critical reception to “Just Keeps Getting Harder” has been mostly postive. Sam Watkins wrote in his review “Damn this one is funky, why wasn’t this the big debut this track would of packed more of a punch as his debut, this track is funky, catchy and a little spicy with its lyrically content but as a man I can totally relate to his track and whose awkward moments that occur in your teens when it comes to that area of your body, fabulous track…hopefully this one gets the credit it deserves.” Alisha Moore wrote in her review. “Firstly the single artwork was distracting here’s me a middle aged women getting googly eyed over his body had to remind myself that his just 18 years old, but once I clicked play I was not disappointed either, his vocals are just wow he can really sing, his bringing yet another relatable track, his debut was related and so is this one, especially to boys his age. This track is funky, fun and I can’t wait to delve into more of his music when it is released.” Max Fairchild wrote in his review. “The power of social media these days he blew up by making covers of well known tracks and turning them into indie-rock tracks with a funky twist and now his releasing his own music and I haven’t been disappointed his debut was solid and now we have “Just Keeps Getting Harder” yet another funky indie-pop/rock jam everyone about this track is solid from the lyrics I literally had to Google what a scantron bubble was…apparently it’s a type of test sheet that they use in schools who knew that was what those are called but enough about my own ignorance this track is damn good I’d like to see it perform better than his debut did, I feel like this debut deserved more credit than it got and I am hoping this track doesn’t get brushed aside because of no label backing because this track is phenomenal well done Cem!” Faith Adams wrote in her review. “Okay after his debut I thought that maybe we wouldn’t get another single so soon but I am not complaining this track is definitely living up to his indie-rocker with a funky twist image, lyrically it’s a little spicer than his debut and is a relatable topic, plus let’s just take a moment to appreciate his vocal delivery no wonder he made waves on platforms like TikTok this boy has some pipes on him those high notes are like a chef’s kiss, this is a fantastic track!”

JUST KEEPS GETTING HARDER

Some people gotta have their Sunday service
I just need to get some blood flow
Every time she bends over
I get nervous
This table only covers so low
One more scantron bubble
And I might burst
I’m doin’ everything that I know
Some people gotta have their Sunday service
I just need to get some blood flow

And it keeps getting harder and harder to hide it
I just got a boner in class
And I keep tryin’ harder and harder to fight it
I just got a boner in class
My mind's not in it
Got seven minutes
Lord be with me while I finish
It keeps getting harder and harder to hide it
I just got a boner in class

You know that it’s been a minute since I did it
I’m doing all I can
Now I’m thinkin’ 'bout my grandma in a casket
Tryna make it go back in
Some people gotta have their Sunday service
I just need to get some blood flow
Every time she bends over
I get nervous
This table only covers so low

And it keeps getting harder and harder to hide it
I just got a boner in class
And I keep tryin’ harder and harder to fight it
I just got a boner in class
My mind's not in it
Got seven minutes
Lord be with me while I finish
It keeps getting harder and harder to hide it
I just got a boner in class

Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no
Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no
Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no
Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no

And it keeps getting harder and harder to hide it
I just got a boner in class
And I keep tryin’ harder and harder to fight it
I just got a boner in class
My mind's not in it
Got seven minutes
Lord be with me while I finish
It keeps getting harder and harder to hide it
I just got a boner in class

Billy: This reminds me of some sort of old-timey drunken Irish chant that Dustyn would sing. Church references, a dead grandmother and a big old boner. It has all the ingredients. Not sure I can play it out loud though. Singing about having a hard on in class is sort of frowned upon when you reach your 30's. Anyway, fun track mate. Curious to see what else you can do.

Cem Bünyamin: Thanks Billy mate, I mean this track is relatable that’s for sure many guys my age suffer from this awkward kinda thing, as I am sure you did back in the day so I am glad you are liking it!

Maliah: Cem, I've made a mental note to keep an eye on you in 2026 ever since you dropped "Sweet Seventeen" because I think you can be the next big breakout star in this industry. I think it's refreshing that there's a real sense of fun in your work and this one perfectly showcases that. It feels like a throwback to early 2000's pop music and that's a good thing in my book. Keep up the great work so far!

Ryan: While it has been a very, very, very long time since I've been in a classroom, I can still remember when I was a teenager and I was a bit less subtle when it came to that part of my body aligning properly with conventional social norms. I had to pause the song when I first heard it and rewind to make sure I heard that chorus correctly. It's fun, it's catchy, and it has that viral appeal. There is certainly space for such a track to exist. Good work on this one, and best of luck with your... um, situation?
